I had no idea how someone could make money blogging without selling their own products when I started blogging. To be honest I didn’t know what affiliate marketing was or even how to begin. Luckily, I came across Michelle Schroeder-Gardner’s course, Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing. It was eye-opening, to say the least.
First, you need to have a blog. It can be any kind of blog, whether a mom blog, finance blog or whichever niche you decide on. Starting a mom blog or any other type of blog isn’t really so difficult. You can honestly start blogging in only 15 minutes, with of course some planning beforehand.
By the way, this is a review of an affiliate marketing course I’ve taken, Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing.
When I started blogging one of the mistakes I made was not monetizing my blog. By monetizing I mean, making money. There are so many ways to start making money but one of the best, if you don’t have any of your own products yet, is affiliate marketing.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing is a great way to monetize your blog. It basically is earning a commission for referring your readers to a service or product.
Here is a quick and easy way to think about affiliate marketing, a step-by-step process:
Recommend a product or service on your blog
Your reader buys said product or service via your personalized affiliate link (blog or social media)
You earn a commission for that sale (most course commissions are 40%, while service commissions can vary).

Cons of this course
Not everything is perfect! There is no perfect course. Here I’ve listed a couple of the things I didn’t like or missed in this course.
There were absolutely no videos at all, it was all text-based but you can print everything out and bind it all together.
It didn’t include a condensed ebook which would have made it easier to take along with you and read on the road.
It was a little pricey if you are just a beginner blogger but they do offer a payment plan. But you can try the free ebook.
Pros of this course
Most importantly is that there is a payment plan. Sure does make it more affordable.
There is a Facebook group where you can ask questions and share your posts.
There is a lot to learn with 6 modules, over 30 lessons, over 20 worksheets, bonuses, and more, and she goes through everything when it comes to affiliate marketing, such as:
What affiliate marketing is and how it works
Why affiliate marketing is great
The exact steps she's taken to earn over $300,000 from a single blog post
How to pick the right affiliate products to promote

How to build trust and not lose followers

Different strategies to use to promote your affiliate products

Michelle earns over $50,000 a month through affiliate marketing, and she shares all of my best tips in this course. You have nothing to lose and so much to learn and earn!
As you can see there are more pros than cons. I highly recommend Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing.
